Cruciate and Patella Surgery

Mainliacht performs the full spectrum of cruciate and patellar stabilisation procedures, selected according to patient size, activity level, and anatomic considerations. Procedures include: Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) Lateral Suture Stabilisation (Extracapsular Repair) Medial Patellar Luxation (MPL) Correction — wedge or block recession, tibial tuberosity transposition, and soft-tissue balancing Modified Maquet Procedure (MMP) Each case is planned individually using pre-operative radiographs and templating to achieve optimal alignment and long-term functional outcome.

Fracture and Trauma Repair

A wide range of fracture configurations can be managed in-house, from simple transverse fractures to complex comminuted or articular injuries. Procedures include: Locking Plate and Screw Fixation Compression, Neutralisation, and Bridging Plating Techniques External Skeletal Fixation (Mini, Small, and Large IMEX Systems) Tension Band Wiring Intramedullary Pinning Cerclage and Hemicerclage Wiring Pre-operative planning is performed for every case, with implant selection tailored to bone size, load direction, and fracture configuration.

  • 14.4 V modular orthopaedic drills with AO quick-coupling, sagittal saw, Jacobs and K-wire attachments — providing controlled power delivery and accuracy for drilling, sawing, and osteotomy work.

  • Comprehensive locking plate systems (2.0 mm – 3.5 mm narrow and broad series) with matching cortical and locking screw sets, bending irons, and depth gauges for precise contouring and fracture stabilisation.

  • Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) instrumentation set, including dedicated saw guides, spreaders, fork inserts, and cage placement tools, enabling accurate osteotomy, advancement, and cage fixation for cruciate disease.

  • Lateral Suture instrumentation, featuring suture passers, crimping devices, and tensioning tools for extracapsular stabilisation in small to medium-breed dogs.

  • Fragment and reduction forceps sets with serrated and pointed tips for controlled manipulation and alignment during open fracture repair.

  • External Skeletal Fixation (IMEX) systems — Mini, Small, and Large — allowing hybrid and linear frame construction for fractures requiring staged or minimally invasive stabilisation.

  • Tarsal Arthrodesis instrumentation, including small-fragment compression plating and drill guides to achieve correct joint alignment, compression, and long-term stability.

  • Calibrated callipers, rulers, and aiming devices to facilitate accurate measurement, alignment, and implant placement throughout all procedures.

This integrated orthopaedic inventory enables the complete management of cruciate disease, patellar luxation, long-bone fractures, and distal limb arthrodesis within the familiar practice environment.
