Meet Robert Murray MRCVS — Mainliacht’s Peripatetic Small Animal Surgeon
Providing complex orthopaedic and soft-tissue surgery across the UK with dedication, precision, and compassion

About Robert Murray, B.Sc (Hons) Biomed, DVM, MRCVS
I graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) in Biomedical Science before completing my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). My academic background in molecular diagnostics and my clinical experience in small-animal surgery have given me a strong foundation in evidence-based surgical practice.
I am currently completing the BSAVA Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, with advanced modules in orthopaedics, soft tissue, and emergency procedures.
Over the past several years I have worked across multi-branch and hospital settings throughout the Midlands, performing a wide range of orthopaedic and soft-tissue procedures. My experience includes management of cruciate disease, patellar luxation, fracture repair, and complex thoracic and abdominal surgeries.
In 2025 I established Mainliacht, a dedicated mobile surgical service designed to bring advanced surgical capability directly to veterinary practices.

How I Work
Every procedure is performed in collaboration with the host practice team. I bring all required sterile instruments, orthopaedic implants, power tools, and consumables, ensuring an efficient, high surgical standard within your own theatre.
I work closely with the practice team to plan each case, review imaging, and discuss patient preparation. Following surgery, I provide detailed post-operative notes, aftercare sheets, and ongoing support to ensure a smooth recovery for every patient.
Mainliacht was founded on the belief that surgical excellence and compassion should go hand-in-hand — wherever the patient is treated.

Orthopaedic Surgery
Cruciate repair (TTA / MMP), patellar luxation, fracture fixation with locking plate or ESF constructs.
Soft-Tissue Surgery
Complex Thoracic and Abdominal Procedures.
Case Support
Radiograph review, pre-operative consultation, and aftercare documentation.

Dedication
Dedicated to Sam – my constant companion and the inspiration behind everything I do.
