Introduction

Mainliacht provides a full range of complex soft-tissue surgical procedures, delivered directly within your practice. Each surgery is performed using specialist instrumentation including harmonic scalpel, Valleylab electrocautery, and suction for meticulous tissue handling and optimal haemostasis. This service enables practices to offer complex procedures without external referral, maintaining continuity of care for both patient and client.

Head and Neck Surgery

Mainliacht offers a variety of complex head and neck procedures designed to restore normal function, alleviate discomfort, and improve quality of life. Procedures include: Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Surgery (BOAS) — soft-palate resection, alarplasty, and sacculectomy Total Ear Canal Ablation with Lateral Bulla Osteotomy (TECA / LBO) Laryngeal Tie-Back (Arytenoid Lateralisation) Mandibular and Maxillary Mass Resection and Reconstruction Salivary Gland Excision Each case is carefully assessed pre-operatively with advanced airway or otoscopic evaluation where required. Nerve-sparing techniques and meticulous haemostasis are employed to minimise complications and promote rapid recovery.

Abdominal and Perineal Surgery

Advanced intra-abdominal and perineal procedures are performed routinely using a combination of harmonic dissection and electrocautery for precise tissue control.

Procedures include:

  • Cystotomy and Bladder Stone Removal

  • Splenectomy

  • Anal Sacculectomy (Open or Closed Technique)

  • Perineal Hernia Repair

  • Gastropexy (Preventive or Therapeutic)

  • Gastrotomy and Enterotomy (Foreign Body Removal)

Attention to asepsis, gentle tissue handling, and layered closure ensures excellent post-operative outcomes and minimises the risk of wound complications.

Thoracic and Reconstructive Surgery

Mainliacht provides thoracic surgical capability for a range of critical procedures. With a complete thoracic kit including Finochietto rib retractors, Satinsky vascular clamps, and suction, safe and efficient access to the thoracic cavity is achieved for:

Lung Lobectomy

Pericardectomy

Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) Ligation

Thoracic Biopsy Procedures

Reconstructive and wound-management techniques are also available to optimise healing and restore function following trauma or tumour resection.

  • Harmonic scalpel for precise, bloodless dissection

  • Valleylab Force EZ electrocautery (monopolar and bipolar modes)

  • MGE SAM-35 suction system with sterile collection bottles

  • Linear cutter and vascular staplers for rapid visceral and vascular resection

  • GIA staplers for secure gastrointestinal and pulmonary closure in advanced abdominal and thoracic procedures

Post-Operative Care

Every surgical case is accompanied by a detailed, personalised discharge sheet outlining analgesia, wound care, feeding recommendations, exercise restriction, and expected recovery timelines. These can be viewed and downloaded at any time from the Resources page.

Mainliacht was founded on the belief that surgical excellence and compassion should go hand-in-hand — wherever the patient is treated.
